The latest proclamation from the CIA came out a day or so after the agency was taken over by a Trump sycophant. It has been very well shown that Steve Bannon came up with lab leak idea. See my prior substack about NYT investigation proving that. The politcal PR firm O'Donnell and Associates featured lab leak among its talking points in the Corona Big Book which Trump commissioned in 2020 and whuch were distributed to all GOP members of Congress.
Of course this is by far the most likely scenario. It is a pity that the Chinese authorities still have the instinct to cover up anything they think might reflect badly on them, instead of simply recognizing that with their huge population, eating traditions, and type of climate, pandemics are more likely to start there.

I believe both said "low confidence", that should tell you something.
