Finally, at least one state medical board is willing to uphold their duty to protect the public.
Dr. Cole is a dermatopathologist. He has not done an infectious disease fellowship hence he is not a qualified expert in COVID or any other infectious disease. He does not hold privileges at any hospital in Idaho to treat patients with infections or consult on infectious disease cases.
Physicians are obligated by law, regulation and medical staff by laws to practice within the scope of their training.
Practicing outside that scope is unprofessional conduct. The public deserves protection from physicians who stray from their areas of expertise.
Dr. Cole has spread misinformation globally to discourage vaccination by inciting fear.
He has also admitted to prescribing Hydroxychoroquine and Ivermectin for COVID patients neither of which has been shown to be beneficial.
Dr. Cole is qualified to practice pathology and dermatopathology. He cannot do surgery, deliver babies or treat patients with infectious diseases.
I commend the Washington Medical Commission and urge other state medical boards to take similar actions against doctors who violate state medical practice acts.
The idea that an MD is not qualified to treat infectious diseases unless they are board certified infectious disease specialists, is itself dangerous disinformation.
