Antivaxxers and antimaskers share one thing in common, they lack the education and training to comprehend the issues and correctly interpret the medical literature.
Here is a perfect example of Dr. Wilson correctly interpreting the literature.

Dr Wilson correctly admits that the Cochrane meta-analysis couldn't find any high quality studies with solid evidence that masks actually work to prevent community transmission of respiratory viruses like covid-19.
Then he goes on to mention the Bangladesh study as the best one of its kind available. Haha!! This study showed only a pathetically small, worthless effect (if any).
More or less admitting that there's no evidence of real world effectiveness, Wilson goes on to point out the undoubtable fact that masks do reduce the amount of virus particles in the air. In other words, the masks OUGHT to work!!
Unfortunately for his argument, it just doesn't pan out that way.
Wilson says that if you're sitting in a room with an infected person, and that person is wearing a mask, it will take longer for you to get an infectious dose. What difference does that make? Eventually you're going to get to that infectious dose anyhow.
Statistically speaking, all the studies in the Cochrane meta-analysis are showing that however effective masks ought to be, nobody has been able to prove that they work in actual reality.
If masks are effective, why can't the studies show it?? Why does Wilson have to resort to hand-waving and scary videos of liquid droplets floating around in the air? And how does this give him the right to insult those of us who disagree, calling us "idiots" and comparing us to flat earthers?
I have an P100 mask and I bet it's effective. I used it when I was called out for jury duty in the middle of the Delta wave, to sit in a small room with hundreds of other folks waiting to be called. But I can only stand to wear it for an hour or two at a time. I was desperate to get rid of it when I was released from the room.
