Dr. Martin Kulldorff, a Harvard biostatistics professor has been fired. Although Harvard has been tight lipped about it, Kulldorff had been “on leave” for a over a year.
Kulldorff, one of the lead authors of the discredited “Great Barrington Declaration” (GBD) is a vocal critic of vaccination against COVID. The GBD was a hastily prepared statement arguing against social mitigation strategies for COVID.
Kulldorff went far afield of his training and credentials and gave the public medical advice that included discouraging vaccination.
The GBD has been shredded by Infectious Disease doctors for a lack of any evidence to support it key recommendations. The Declaration was whipped up by Kulldorff and others with the support of Steve Bannon who has made antivaxerry, a cornerstone of Trump’s strategy.
Kulldorff now joins Ryan Cole, MD as one more antiaxx “expert” being held accountable for spreading incorrect information about COVID. Kulldorff, who is not an MD, has no training in clinical infectious diseases though his public comments sounded a lot like medical advice. Harvard likely did not want the risk or embarrassment of having a faculty member practicing epistemic trespassing.
Slowly but surely, the antivaxx doctors of disinformation are being brought to justice. Their wrong headed advice is responsible for some 300,000 to 400,000 unnecessary American deaths due to refusal to be vaccinated.
Time for another jab, Mike...
